On June 19, 1976, Waleska was born in Puerto Rico to Angel and Carmen Tirado. In February of 1978 they moved to Massachusetts where she was raised along-side her two younger sisters. She has always enjoyed drawing from a young age. She started replicating characters from her reading books that she would read on her own as well as cartoon characters. She was introduced to drawing from her kindergarten class with Mrs. Lopez. Drawing wouldn’t be her only passion that would spark other avenues of creativity for her. She also enjoyed paper Mache and other arts and crafts activities since the 3rd grade. As the years went by the replicating character got easier and so she drew most of the Looney Tunes Characters, Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, and Disney. This was without any classes/ training, this was self-taught. She truly enjoyed this. In 6th grade in art class with Mr. Childress she won a drawing contest. She also made a whale out of Ivory Soap as a project. In 1990 she started her first job with Just-A-Start, where she helped the community with the clean-up of the inner-City neighborhoods. In high school she took Architectural Drawing and while in class built a covered bridge out of balsa wood. She also designed blueprints for her "dream" house and started building it in balsa wood. She also took photography and learned the process of the dark room and development of film. In 1994 she graduated high school. In 1995 went on to college where she also took Basic Drawing and was studying Interior Design. Life happened and things changed a bit. She joined the United States Army in 1997 and served 4 years. In 2001 she received an Associate degree in Applied Science from state of New York. In 2002/03 she became a certified Cake Decorator in the State of North Carolina. As time passed on, photography became a way of expressing emotions and thoughts. Capturing moments that were fleeing too quickly. In 2016 she took photos for an event called “Stepping in the Name of Love”. She enjoys painting with mediums such as acrylics, oils, pastels, and pencils. She also likes artists such as Claude Monet and Photography by Ansel Adams and Bertram Bahner. Throughout the years of life changes, she has found that Romans 8:28, Joshua 1:9 and Philippians 4:6-7 have been a very helpful reminder. Her purpose is to make each piece personal!
